New Arrivals & Hidden Gems at Pond Life Aquatics!
Share
Hello fellow aquarists! Harris Bard here from Pond Life Aquatics and Tropical Fish London. This week, we've had a fantastic new fish order arrive, and the fish room is buzzing with some truly stunning new faces and exciting developments. Let's dive in and see what's new!
South American Splendour
Our South American section is brimming with life! We're thrilled to welcome some Red Whiptail Catfish back to the store. These peaceful, algae-eating bottom dwellers offer a unique aesthetic compared to more common catfish species. They've settled in beautifully and their colours are spectacular.
A personal favourite, and inspired by the incredible artwork of Moss UK (definitely check out his work!), we've finally got Black Neon Tetras in stock. These understated yet gorgeous shoaling fish with their striking black and silver lines are a perfect addition to many community tanks, especially compatible with London's hard water.
We've also received a fresh batch of Red Ancistrus (both shortfin and longfin varieties). These diligent algae eaters are always popular, but remember they can become territorial as they mature, so plan your tank accordingly! And for those looking for something truly special, we have some absolutely magnificent, chunky Royal Panaque. These large suckerfish boast vibrant green coloration and black stripes, making them an absolute steal.
The excitement doesn't stop there in South America! We're incredibly excited about our new Koi Angelfish. These are easily some of the nicest angels we've had in a long time, with deep red speckles and pure white bodies. They're settling in perfectly and are already feeding well. Just remember, these beauties need a decent-sized aquarium – we recommend no less than 200 litres for a thriving display.
You can also still find our tank-bred Polar Parrots and Blue Parrot Fish, as well as our Hard Water Discus. Our discus have gone from strength to strength, feeding well and looking incredible. If you're in London, you won't find a better deal on tank-bred hard water discus!
Asian Wonders
Over in our Asian section, we've added more vibrant Female Fighting Fish to our tanks. The breeding efforts in these lines have truly paid off, as they now boast colours and finnage that rival male plakats! We ensure all our Bettas have a minimum of 15 litres, prioritizing their welfare over cramming them into small spaces.
We've restocked our popular Neon Green Rasboras and our excellent snail-controlling Pakistani Loaches. Our Asian Rummynose have finally matured and are showing off their stunning adult colours – they won't be around for long! You'll also find gorgeous Honey Gourami, delicate Chili Rasbora, and steadily selling Sparkling Gourami.
A long-awaited arrival are the Golden Leopard Danios. These adaptable and visually stunning fish are known for their lively "dithering" behaviour, which can help more timid fish feel secure. They're perfect for a wide range of temperatures, even unheated aquariums in warmer spots. We've also had a restock of White Cloud Mountain Minnows and the stunning, vibrant Gouramis that are quickly finding their forever homes.
Our barb tanks continue to impress with their vibrancy and character, and we have some delightful Cherry Barbs that are perfect for temperate setups. Don't forget to check out our colourful varieties of Neo-Caradina shrimp and the ever-popular male Betta splendens throughout the Asian section.
Australia & Africa Highlights
While we didn't receive new stock for these continents this week, there are still some highlights worth mentioning! Our Red Rainbowfish in the Australian section have reached maturity and are showing their incredible sexual dimorphism, making them ideal for breeding. And speaking of breeding, one of my favourite species, the Peacock Gudgeons, have paired off in our lower left corner – a fantastic opportunity for nano aquarium breeders!
In our African range, our Lamprologus Ocellatus Daffodils are behaving beautifully, and our Ocellatus Blues have started shell dwelling, indicating potential breeding soon. Our Lamprologus Lellupis have found their spaces, and the Malawi Cichlids are, as always, explosively vibrant and beautiful, especially the yellow labs!
Beyond the Fish
We also received a "tight" plant order with some gorgeous pieces of plant and wood, and what might be the nicest live food we've ever seen! We've been selling live food faster than ever, so if you're local and need a supply, please message us before coming in to ensure availability.
A massive thank you to everyone who has been supporting Pond Life Aquatics and Tropical Fish London! We've been busier than ever, and your support, especially the new faces from YouTube and Instagram, and those leaving Google reviews, truly makes a difference. We read all your suggestions for future species and I'll be replying to those comments soon.
