Introducing your new fish!

Thank you for purchasing fish at Pond Life!

For indoor fish:

To introduce your fish to your aquarium please follow the procedure below:

1) Keep your fish in the bag or box provided and get them home as quickly as possible. This will reduce stress and help keep your fish warm.

2) Turn off the tank light and float bag unopened for 10 minutes. This again reduces stress and ensures the temperature of the water in the bag is the same as in the tank.

3) Carefully open the bag and roll down the sides so the bag floats.

4) Dip your finger into the water in the bag and then into the tank. If the temperatures feel similar submerge the bag slightly to allow a small amount of tank water to enter the bag. Wait 5 minutes and repeat. This allows your fish to get used to the water chemistry in their new home.

5) After 3-4 rounds of mixing the water (Step 4) you an release you fish. Ideally, as little water from the bag as possible should enter your tank. You can do this by pouring the water through a net over a dedicated bucket that you will only use for your fish tank and then inverting the net into the tank.

6) Leave your tank light off for 2 hours. After this time you can turn your light on and feed very lightly to help the fish settle in.
