African Dwarf Frog

African Dwarf Frog

Quantity

The African Dwarf Frog is commonly found in creeks, ponds, streams, shallow rivers and flooded areas of the forest during the rainy season. Its natural coloration allows it to easily blend in with its surroundings, making it an adept hunter foraging on the substrate. While fully aquatic, these frogs still need to surface periodically to take warm air from the water. Providing cover in the form of Catappa leaves and aquatic plants is essential for security and foraging opportunities. A sand substrate is recommended for easy feeding and cleanliness, as coarse substrates can easily harbor uneaten food and waste. Adequate filtration and gentle water movement are necessary for the well-being of these social creatures, which should be kept in small groups. Careful consideration must be given when choosing tankmates, as adults may prey on small fish and fry. It is important to ensure there are no escape points at the top of the tank, as African Dwarf Frogs are known to explore and cannot survive out of water for extended periods.
