Origin: South America
Angelfish, a member of the Cichlidae family, are widely known and admired in the aquarium hobby.
Their elegant swimming style and stunning appearance make them a perfect choice for larger community tanks.
Angelfish needs tall aquarium, soft substrate, and aquatic plants for safety.
Angelfish are sociable cichlids that live best in a group setting with plenty of space for pairs to form territories and breed away from their tankmates. Avoid adding smaller fish, like tetras, to prevent conflicts and ensure the well-being of all species.
These are hard fish to sex as youngsters but as males grow faster than females, buying a mix of sizes (within a group of fishes the same age) should guarantee pairs. To avoid young fish harassing one another, go for a minimum of four individuals of whatever colours appeal.
Accepts various aquarium foods: flakes, pellets, frozen options like mosquito larvae, brineshrimp, Mysis, daphnia, etc.To successfully raise a large number of fry, a separate softwater breeding aquarium is necessary. The breeding tank should have potential spawning sites, such as plants and slate. After a few days, the fish will show genital papillae and should be left to tend the eggs until they hatch. Feed the fry small foods and monitor the parents for signs of wanting to spawn again.
