Description
Anubias nana is arguably the most common Anubias variant in all aquaria. It's medial size for the species and ease of growth makes it a must for fish keepers of all experiences. When kept in a thriving aquarium Anubias nana will flower, offering an break in the lush green and reds of most aquariums.
When creating a Betta Fish set up consider using Anubias nana as a natural alternative to artificial Betta Hammocks. Due to the shape of it's leaf, Betta Fish can regularly be seen laying down upon this plant.
Anubias is a slow growing plant at the best of times but is a staple in many tropical fish keepers aquariums due to it's easy to keep nature. This plant should be secured to a rock, piece of drift wood, or ornament using fishing wire, alternatively use an aquarium glue such as Itsu aquarium glue.
Anubias can be kept with any kind of aquarium lighting, enjoying either shaded or direct light. This plant is susceptible to algal growth due to its flat leaves, these leaves should preferably be cut off to encourage new leaf growth but may be gently cleaned off.
Anubias must be kept in a tropical aquarium, this means it should be kept in aquariums between 21°C and 30°C. In lower temperatures it may survive but you will struggle to get any significant growth.
Like all aquarium plants, Anubias will benefit from CO2 injection or liquid CO2. It will also be much more likely to thrive in a fertilized tank treated with EasyLife Profito.
