Distributed mostly in the Moluccas, also known as the Maluku Islands, the Bamboo Shrimp can be found in many other islands and mainlands of South East Asia.
It reaches an impressive size of 9cm and thrives in freshwater environments with close to neutral pH (6.5-7.5) and moderate water hardness (6-15 degrees).
This species is best kept in a community tank and is easily fed with flake, granules, and frozen foods. Males can be distinguished by thicker first set of "walking legs" (pereopods), while females have a fuller body and longer carapace.
