Description
Elodea densa (also known as Egaria densa) is an excellent plant for beginners, much like its cousin Egeria Najas it is fast growing with low demands making it easy to cultivate in any aquarium but unlike it's cousin it is also suitable for use in outdoor ponds.
A common issue that arises with Elodea Densa is when the stem bases turn yellow and begin to rot. This is common and is usually to do with a lack of light reaching the base of the stems. When this happens perhaps consider upgrading to a slightly more powerful light or just cut the base of the stem up to where the rot ends and replant.
Elodea Densa is perfect oxygenator because of it's quick growth and high photosynthetic rate.Â
Like most plants Elodea Densa will benefit from fertilization and we recommend the use of Aquadip's Plant Food. Additionally the use of CO2 injection or the use of a liquid CO2 product, such as Seachem Flourish Excel, can greatly increase growth rates.Â
