Meet the Ember tetra, a recent addition to the aquarium world. This little fish was discovered in 1987 and lovingly named after Amanda Bleher, a well-known fish collector. Fun fact: if it weren't for their vibrant orange color, they would probably be named after Amanda instead!
These tiny tetras thrive in slow-moving waters with plenty of plants and make the perfect addition to small, planted aquariums. With their bright orange hue, they bring a burst of energy and charm to any tank, unlike their rowdier relatives, the Serpae tetras. These model citizens can happily coexist with other community fish, and even shrimps. Keep in mind, in a bare tank, they may not look their best, but once they settle into a well-decorated aquarium, they'll shine like a bright ember.
