Description
Hygrophila polysperma, or Dwarf Hygrophila, originates in South East Asia and is one of the hardiest plants you can keep in an aquarium. With low light requirements and CO2 being an optional extra, this plant is ideal for any tropical aquarium.Â
In fact, Dwarf Hygrophila is so easy to grow it is often necessary to perform regular cut backs to prevent it from overcrowding the tank. This is why Dwarf Hygrophila is so often recommended to beginner fish keepers, it's very difficult to kill. Aside from the regular cut backs, this is one of the lowest maintenance plants you can keep; fertiliser, while appreciated, isn't strictly necessary, and often this plant will thrive without it. By planting your cut back stems into a substrate of gravel, growing a dense green aquarium is extremely easy.
