Freshwater Clams are docile, amicable, and non-threatening organisms that thrive on filter feeding. Their natural filtering tendencies help to remove debris from tank water, making them an excellent addition to any aquarium. You can pair Freshwater Clams with other peaceful creatures such as Amano Shrimp, Red Cherry Shrimp, Ghost Shrimp, Bamboo Shrimp, and Vampire Shrimp. Additionally, these clams can coexist with snails like Nerite Snails, Mystery Snails, Gold Inca Snails, Ivory Snails, Trumpet Snails, Japanese Trapdoor Snails, Rabbit Snails, and Red Ramshorn Snails. Freshwater Clams can also live harmoniously with many community tank fish, including Corys and Otocinclus Catfish.
The only downside is that Freshwater Clams may soon after being introduced to a tank. If their bodies are not removed promptly, it can lead to severe water quality issues such as ammonia spikes.
